I plan to reach out to many stakeholders for a technology integration plan. I would like to include as many potential stakeholders as possible, such as the school board, teachers, the technology department, other administrators, and parents. It is crucial that everyone's voice is heard and accounted for. I would not want a potential stakeholder to feel as though this plan was not made without their interests in mind. Based on current projects and goals, I believe my plan would extend the one-to-one device initiative. It is fantastic that students in my district have devices, as not everyone does; however, the devices they are given are outdated, and students do not reach the full potential of technological benefits. Ultimately, I hope to incorporate a more sophisticated one-to-one initiative that accounts for the recycling and updating of devices over time. The current issue is that students must use the same laptop device given to them in third grade through high school graduation.
I believe I will learn a lot from the needs assessment assignment given to various stakeholders in my building. I think the surveys I send out will leverage the current situation of where things are currently. It will help give me a clearer picture of the current issues regarding technology. This will help me cater potential solutions to improve the current situation. I also have plans for what outcomes I plan to focus on. The two main outcomes I want to focus on are student performance and stakeholder feedback. I believe that understanding trends in terms of student performance is important in seeing the effectiveness of having updated technology for them. According to various resources, students perform better in school when given access to updated and sufficient technology. Student grades can give us a good snapshot of things before and after the implementation. Also, student performance on standardized tests can provide another indication of how the students are doing.
Regarding stakeholder feedback, I believe conducting meetings regarding the technology plan and how it is going would be beneficial. Again, I want to make sure that every stakeholder is accounted for. These meetings would cover various topics such as stakeholders' interests regarding technology, student data, and potential new technology that can benefit the students. This will help stakeholders feel more empowered and confident about making decisions (Peterson & Scharber, 2017).
Based on this week's readings, I would utilize the Triple-E Framework model for change. This particular framework is a tool that considers stakeholder feedback and opinions (Kolb, 2020). It considers three main ideas: engagement, enhancement, and extension (Kolb, 2020). With various lenses, this framework allows for an honest and holistic approach towards technological feedback (Kolb, 2020). I would like to give stakeholders this framework to help us evaluate the effectiveness of technological hardware and software. I believe it will allow for open transparency of their thoughts and ideas, which is all I could ever ask for. I want to ensure stakeholders feel appreciated and accounted for throughout this process.

Alex,
ReplyDeleteI agree that reasonably up-to-date devices are absolutely critical to maintaining an effective educational technology initiative. A suggestion I would make when you start to work with stakeholders that control your district's budget is to explore options from vendors that purchase surplus technology from schools and work that into your plan/proposal.
Hello Alex. It's important to get as much feedback as possible from the stakeholders you've identified. Understanding each of their roles is important to validating the overall success of the integration plan. Your plan to use feedback forms and face-to-face meetings is a good combination. You'll need to make sure the meetings stay focused and don't turn into an opportunity for everyone just to air their complaints.
ReplyDeleteYour thoughtful approach to updating the one-to-one device initiative is inspiring! Including a diverse group of stakeholders and focusing on sustainability shows true leadership and a long-term vision. Your emphasis on continuous feedback and improvement sets the stage for lasting success. Keep up the amazing work—your efforts are sure to make a big impact!
ReplyDeleteAlex,
ReplyDeleteI like your take on doing in person meetings, though I do agree with Brad that those would lend themselves to disaster if not focused. I can see where someone would utilize that as an opportunity to complain about one thing and then go down a rabbit hole of complaints. I do think that it is a great idea because it shows you're more invested. I am still in shock that your district utilizes a device for that many years without updating it.
