Alex Facciponte's Week 2 Blog Post EDU 5373      I plan to reach out to many stakeholders for a technology integration plan. I would like to include as many potential stakeholders as possible, such as the school board, teachers, the technology department, other administrators, and parents. It is crucial that everyone's voice is heard and accounted for. I would not want a potential stakeholder to feel as though this plan was not made without their interests in mind. Based on current projects and goals, I believe my plan would extend the one-to-one device initiative. It is fantastic that students in my district have devices, as not everyone does; however, the devices they are given are outdated, and students do not reach the full potential of technological benefits. Ultimately, I hope to incorporate a more sophisticated one-to-one initiative that accounts for the recycling and updating of devices over time. Week 1 Blog EDU 5373- Alex Facciponte Interview with John Albert      Something that I noticed about the path taken by the interviewee was how they took into account every student regardless of socioeconomic status or being English Language Learners (Stachowiak and McClay, 2024). Albert took the time to recognize and appreciate everyone's differences and tried his best to provide equal access to each student (Stachowiak and McClay, 2024). Understanding the various students in the community allows for a sense of empowerment to grow. If all students were not considered, reaching them would be more difficult. Albert also provides a sense of choice regarding the teachers. The original technology rollout for the teachers was entirely voluntary (Stachowiak and McClay, 2024). Week 2 Blog Post There can be many perspectives on the dividing factors for my specific community. In Wilmon Brown’s work, he mentions how there can be limited technology due to costs (Brown, 2020). For my particular community, there have been issues with students receiving proper and updated technology for their schooling efforts. While we are ahead other districts nationwide by providing students directly with laptops, these laptops are incredibly outdated. Students, as well as teachers, are finding difficulty keeping up due to this lack of resources. Students have to endure the most struggle. Students are expected to use the same laptop they received from elementary school through high school graduation. When I heard this, I could not believe it was real. There needs to be a better system in place to give students more updated technology so they can utilize it as best as possible.   Introduce Myself Hello everyone! My name is Alex Facciponte. I am from Long Island, New York. I graduated this past May from a small private university called St. Joseph’s University. It was a quick and convenient commute. My degree is in history adolescent education. I have been working as a permanent substitute at South Ocean Middle School this year. This school is located within the Patchogue-Medford school district. I wanted to get valuable experience substituting while working on my master's in the meantime. However, I have gotten more than I bargained for. I have basically walked into a leave replacement position as a special education English teacher. Although I feel severely underqualified, I am doing my best and learning a lot daily. It gives me more confidence that if I can do a good job in this role, I could only imagine the possibilities if I taught my subject area of expertise.
